EXPERIENCE MULTIMEDIA JOURNALISM AND COMMUNICATION INTERNATIONALLY

The third UO School of Journalism and Communication “Global Stories” trip will provide journalism and media students with experiential learning in Sri Lanka during December 2016. Students will document continuing recovery efforts related to the 2004 tsunami and the 25-year civil war that ended in 2009. Travel there is now safe. Previous “Global Stories” students visited Cuba and Nepal. Other SOJC travel programs take students to Ghana West Africa, Alaska, and Argentina.

PREVIOUS JOURNEYS

Rather than conceptualize about life inside a communist country, we took students to Cuba just as the United States was renewing diplomatic relations.

Nepal

Ghana

Science + Memory

Our students traveled to rural areas of Nepal following that country's recent devastating earthquake to report firsthand on relief efforts.

Our students build relationships through internships, working alongside media professionals each summer in Ghana, West Africa.

Instead of speculating about the effects of climate change, our Science + Memory program sends students to document it each summer in Cordova, Alaska.
